Volunteering

We are always looking for enthusiastic people

The Museum relies on the help and support of a team of over 50 volunteers. Voluntary roles at the Museum include (amongst others):  

  • Acting as a tour guide
  • Aircraft cleaning
  • Helping in the Workshop
  • Maintaining the Memorial Garden
  • Researching in the Archive
  • Helping with school groups
  • Leading holiday activities

Ordinary people doing extraordinary things

We are always looking for volunteers with specific skills to help with all aspects of the Museum. From tending the Memorial Garden to keeping the Museum looking shipshape with a spot of paint when required, or raising vital funds or awareness to using your professional skills in our offices, there are a wide range of volunteer roles available.

Vacancy:  Volunteer Tour Guides

If you have an interest in military aviation and enjoy meeting people then tour guiding could be for you. If you would like find out more about joining our volunteer tour guiding team please contact Susan Lindsay on 01264 784421 or curator@flying-museum.org.uk. Training will be provided.

 

Vacancy:  Memorial Garden Maintenance

We always need help maintaining the outside areas of the Museum including the Memorial Garden. If you could spare some time and are a bit handy in the garden, please contact the Site Manager, Chris Hyslop on 01264 784421 or site.manager@flying-museum.org.uk for more information. 

 

Vacancy:  School Holiday Activity Leaders

Every school holiday, the Museum provides free activities for families to take part in on weekdays from 11.00 to 14.00. These include crafts, games and practical activities. If you have experience working with children and feel confident in leading our young visitors through activities, please contact our Learning & Community Officer Joanna Wenmann on 01264 784421 or education@flying-museum.org.uk
