ONE of the highest profile Generals for the British Army since the Second World War will be the guest of honour at a fundraising dinner at the Army Flying Museum this September.

General Sir Michael Jackson will be taking to the stage in a special interview on Tuesday 17 September to mark the 75th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden.

His interviewer will be Robert Fox, Defence Correspondent of the London Evening Standard.

Robert will engage Sir Mike in conversation to explore his views of this key battle in the campaign to defeat Nazi Germany.

Prior to his retirement from the Army in 2006, following a 45 year career, Sir Mike was Chief of the General Staff (CGS), the professional head of the British Army.

Since retiring he continues to speak on military matters and works as a consultant and guest lecturer, and has published an autobiography.

Robert Fox has been a professional reporter, commentator, author and broadcaster for over 40 years.

He has reported from the front in the Falklands conflict of 1982, the Middle East, including Iraq and the Palestinian territories, Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan.  He has specialised in military and defence matters, security and foreign policy, terrorism and organised crime for nearly 20 years.  Robert worked as a Commissioner for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission from 2012 - 2018.

Doors to the Museum open at 6pm with the dinner, which will be catered for by McCrimmon & Reid, starting at 7pm.
