Balloons and Ack AckPaul Beaver Lecture
Often forgotten, the barrage balloons and anti-aircraft guns in Britain were just as much a defence as fighter aircraft. In 1940, there were only a hundred guns defending London when the first German bombers arrived. Andrew Gossage will talk about his grandfather who given the task of developing the Ack-Ack defences by Winston Churchill and Paul Beaver will provide the context of a very successful system.
