Trips to the Museum

See a plane that’s over 100 years old, marvel at a flying car and imagine what it would be like to land a glider in the dead of night.  Imagine a flight across the jungle in a tiny plane or a trip to the desert in a helicopter.  Find all this at the Army Flying Museum.

This  Autumn trips to the museum have been shortened because of the current Covid situation, but fear not you will still have plenty of time to explore the museum and learn about our collections.   Teachers will follow our one way system with their pupils with a special highlight sheet to guide them.

Pupils will also receive a special activity session in our Learning Space and ample follow up resources to keep them busy back at school. We have sessions on the First World War, Second World War and STEM sessions suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 .

Visits will conclude with our Armed Action Show. Take a seat in the “H” in our Second Hangar and experience the thrills of combat with our journey through helicopter history using projection sound and wind effects.

Trips to the museum are charged at £6.00 per pupil and include a 30 minute online pre-visit prior to the trip,  these are suitable for both Zoom and Microsoft Teams and give us a chance to talk about the smaller items we would normally have included in our handling sessions.

If your pupils would like something to remember their trip by please take a look at our booking details tab and order an activity pack or shop bag when you book your trip with us.  This is just an extra £1.00 per pupil and will be ready for you you take away with you on the day.

Please click HERE for a downloadable summary of our different sessions and HERE for our timetable information. Although we cannot change the content of these sessions we are able to adjust the start and end times.
